Grants Specialist

We are seeking a full-time Grants Specialist to support the Office of Grants Management and Office of Head Start Services within the Administration for Children and Families (ACF).


This role provides fiscal assistance to the Head Start and Early Head Start grantees and supports the delivery of high-quality grants management services.  You will be responsible for providing end-to-end grants management support.  Specific responsibilities include:

  • Pre-award, award, post-award activities and requirements.
  • Provide support to ensure grantee compliance, including reviewing grantee financial reports, waiver requests, etc.
  • Provisioning accurate and timely regulatory/fiscal policy guidance to grantees.
  • Review and analysis of applications for facility construction, purchase, and major renovation.
  • Assist Federal staff with Enhanced Financial Reviews, financial reporting, audits and grant closeout actions.


  • Ability to obtain Public Trust suitability.
  • 3+ years of progressive professional experience related to the task activities including federal discretionary grants management, non-profit or for-profit financial management, and regulatory compliance monitoring and oversight.
  • Prior experience with the administration of discretionary grant programs preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly (oral and written), and produce high quality written products such as memoranda, presentations, and correspondence.
  • A minimum of a BA/BS degree in a field related to task activities from an accredited university or college with a preference for a degree in accounting, business management, or a related field.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite.
  • Familiarity with Federal operations and regulations.
