The USDA, OIG employs approximately 600 individuals in a geographically dispersed environment with responsibilities for the audit and criminal investigation of USDA programs. USDA OIG is to independently and objectively perform audits and investigations of USDA's programs and operations; promote economy, efficiency and effectiveness, and prevent and detect fraud and abuse in programs and operations; review existing and proposed legislation and make recommendations concerning the impact of such legislation or regulations; and report OIG's activities to the Secretary and the U.S. Congress semiannually.


Highlight provides clerical support service to the United States Department of
Agriculture (USDA), Office of Inspector General (OIG), Office of Investigations (INV). We provide support to the Hotline Analyst in order to accomplish the goals of processing the Food and Nutrition Serves (FNS) complaints.  


As a Clerical Support Administrator, you wll provide any needed general administrative support to the Hotline Analysts and a project team including, but not limited to, team and project scheduling, document development and management, document librarian functions, desktop publishing, and visitor control. You will need knowledge of word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, and some database programs (such as Microsoft Office).


  • Enter detailed information relating to complaints in the Hotline Tracking System.
  • Discuss possible problem areas or concerns with Hotline Analyst for direction. The clerical support involves applying established criteria and standard methods to refer FNS complaints via electronic medium.
  • Receive information from complainants via electronic medium; review and analyze complaint information and researches OIG records such as Indices and Hotline Tracking system for prior related complaints.
  • Must be able answer telephone, receive and process mail, operate a Xerox, and facsimile machine.
  • Review material and code it (if necessary) numerically, alphabetically, or by subject matter.
  • Set up storage folders for reference material, program documentation, reports, letters, and transmittal of records.
  • Receive and sort confidential documents, such as emails, mail, and facsimile.
  • File documents in a correct sequenced order or scan paper files.
  • Ensure that documents designated for destruction are properly placed in secured shredder bins.


  • U.S. Citizenship.
  • Public Trust eligibility.
  • Familiarity with numerical and alphabetical filing system.
  • Ability to organize.
  • Be detailed oriented.
  • Capable of proofreading for accuracy.
  • Must have moderate typing and word-processing skills.
  • Must be able to operate computer hardware, such as a scanner in order to convert hard copy documents into a soft (electronic) copy format.
  • Must work well in a small team setting.
  • Must be proficient in entering records into a system of record.
