Highlight is looking for Paralegals to support the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC). You will compile, prepare, and summarize relevant materials for use by attorneys in discovery and in preparation of motions, briefs and other legal documents.


  • Compile, prepare, and summarize relevant materials for use by attorneys in discovery and in preparation of motions, briefs and other legal documents; summarize depositions and other transcripts; maintain case files; perform simple or complex legal research; index, track and control document discovery (including documents produced and received in discovery); index, track, and control exhibits and other materials at depositions and at trial.
  • May synopsize transcripts of hearings and oral arguments for attorney use; review case related materials and, for example, identify potentially conflicting statements or areas requiring further investigation; write preliminary drafts of legal memoranda and correspondence.
  • Prepare exhibit cross-references.
  • Review documents for relevance and privilege according to established guidelines and criteria.
  • Other examples of the type of work to be performed include compilation of documents for FOIA, production requests, Congressional inquiries, etc.
  • May have a role involving special knowledge and skills, such as litigation, document analysis or accounting. Litigation specialty supports attorneys during trial, including courtroom locations and may include experience in witness interviews.


  • Paralegal Certificate required.
  • Preferable experience at the SEC or other financial regulatory agencies (FTC, Federal Reserve, FDIC, CFPB, etc.), two (2)+  years of relevant experience, performing technical duties in the commensurate labor categories for corporations or non-profit organizations.
  • Experience may be a result of combined on-the-job experience and education with certain areas of expertise requiring industry recognized competency certifications.
  • Consideration must be given to the complexity of tasks and contractor responsibilities identified in the requirement.
  • Must be able to work effectively in an extremely pressured environment.
  • Must have and use excellent verbal and written communications skills and be proficient with Microsoft Office 2010 or newer programs.
