    Overview

    Highlight is seeking a detail-oriented Communications Specialist (GDS) to provide educational program support to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Office of Extramural Research (OER) in Bethesda, MD. You will support the Division of Communications & Outreach (DCO) by accomplishing the following tasks to include but not limited to (as needed):

    Responsibilities

    • Support the implementation of the Genomic Data Sharing (GDS) Policy within OER.
    • Support the creation of a new NIH-wide Genomic Data Sharing website.
    • Conduct analysis of existing communications materials and identify gaps that need to be filled.
    • Develop website content on the interpretation of and compliance with the GDS policy based on existing guidance materials.
    • Creation of new resources and content to address internal and external communications needs.
    • Project management support for website development activities and the GDS Communications Subgroup.
    • Working closely with a team of subject-matter experts for content review and feedback.

    Qualifications

    • Ability to obtain a Public Trust.
    • Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s or PhD preferred.
    • Biomedical research knowledge. This requirement may be met by education or experience.
    • Familiarity and expertise working with the NIH or other HHS agencies.
    • Understanding of the role of the Office of Extramural Research (OER) within the greater context of the NIH preferred.
    • Strong written and verbal communications.
    • Demonstrated expertise with website content development.
    • Ability to work independently.
    • Strong attention to detail and project organizational skills.
    • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with ability to effectively manage multiple priorities.
